This article discusses the failings of commercial GM cotton production in Burkino Faso and South Africa, with smallholder GM cotton farmers impoverished due to the expense of the technology coupled with associated technological failures. […] This paper, written by the Lead Petitioner in the Public Interest Writ filed in India’s Supreme Court, argues that the Precautionary Principle must be interpreted critically and pre-emptively for its proper application to the unique risks of GM crops. […] This report describes what, where and how much GM crops are grown in Canada and around the world and where they end up in our food system.
