Research has found high glyphosate concentrations in and around an agricultural town in Argentina. At the same time, there have been increased frequencies of reproductive disorders in the local population. […] The European Food Safety Authority has been critiqued for repeatedly failing to address valid scientific concerns about a GM maize approved for food and feed in the EU, which has been found to cause kidney damage and bladder stones in rats. […] Formulations of glyphosate-based herbicides are found to be much more toxic on both plants and human cells than glyphosate alone. Toxic heavy metals such as arsenic are also found in these herbicides. […] A peer-reviewed article asserts that current safety standards for glyphosate-based herbicides are outdated, may fail to protect public and environmental health, and need to be urgently improved. […] An exploratory ecological study detected increased frequency of cancer in association with high environmental exposure to glyphosate in an agricultural town in Argentina, where the herbicide is used in conjunction with mass cultivation of GM crops. […] A review of the health impacts of GE stacked soybean MON87701× MON89788 and EFSA’s approval of it for food and feed in the EU highlights potential risks which were overlooked in the assessment process. […] Cutting-edge molecular profiling analyses reveal that the herbicide Roundup (glyphosate) caused non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in rats at doses thousands of times below what is permitted by regulators worldwide. […] As the US EPA re-evaluates glyphosate, used widely in conjunction with GM herbicide-resistant crops, industry has launched a full-fledged assault on the independent cancer scientists from the WHO-IARC who declared glyphosate a probable human carcinogen in […] A recent study has warned that genetically modified enzymes used in food, perfumes, medicine and cleaning products are “potent allergens” and should be tested like other potentially hazardous chemicals. […] A scientific review on the adverse impacts of GM food/plants finds a clear need for long-term studies on health effects, before we can conclude that the consumption of GM plants does not pose health risks to consumers.
